Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Spray is a pigment and dye ink fusion that creates oxidised effects when sprayed with water. This allows for an easy way to cover porous surfaces in just seconds, making the process of stencilling possible without messy fingers or tools! Available in all your favourite distress oxide colours every 2 fluid ounces spray bottle this product will ensure you have everything needed on hand for any project's needs. Available in over 60 colours from the Distress Ink Shades.


These spray mediums are ideal for use on a large surface. They are essentially a sprayable version of the Distress Oxide ink pads. However, they don’t have the same concentration as the distress oxide re-inkers. 


It requires shaking side to side prior to each use to get the true property of the dye and the pigment. Alternatively, take off the clear lid, wrap the bottle (including the spray nozzle) with a paper towel and shake it vigorously (you can shake it in any direction this way).  


As pigment always dominate dyes, Distress Oxide Spray allows you to layer colours over one another and you can also layer with Distress Stains to get those intense colours. Remember that every time you add the water to the oxide ink, it will oxidise.

Distress Oxide Spray can be used on both absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces and expect to see different results on different surfaces. The Distress Oxide Spray have both opaque and translucent property. You can build up the opacity by layering and it can become very opaque as a result.

Distress Oxide Sprays Tips & How to Use

  • Shake well before use to allow the pigment powder within the bottle to mix in throughout with the dye. It's recommended to swirl the bottle every few sprays to prevent the pigment from settling on the bottom of the bottle.
  • Air bubbles may be formed and clog the nozzle and it's recommended to how the nozzle down until the bubbles travel up and out of the straw.
  • They can be used without the nozzle, with a blending tool to create a beautiful background.
  • Ink can be dried with a heat tool
  • Colours can be mixed or blended - watch the shades mix and blend for a unique effect!

  • With the ink pads, perfect for stamping and blending, raised surface, easy to control with the blending tool or blending brush. It's a great way to apply colour to a small surface. You have total control over the colour applied.
