Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Spray is a pigment and dye ink fusion that creates oxidised effects when sprayed with water. This allows for quick and easy ink coverage on porous surfaces. Distress Oxide Spray can be used on both absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces and expect to see different results on different surfaces. The Distress Oxide Spray have both opaque and translucent property. You can build up the opacity by layering and it can become very opaque as a result.

Simply spray through stencils, layer colours, spritz with water and watch the colour mix and blend. Available in all your favourite distress oxide colours each in 2 fluid ounces spray bottles.


Key Points of Distress Oxide Inks

  • Fusion between dye (translucent) & pigments (opaque)
  • Have some opaque property and some vibrant translucent property
  • Once dried, they have a matt, chalky, opaque finish while still maintain the vibrancy of colour
  • Water-reactive & Oxides - hazy chalky finish over the top. Dye ink still move but you get the intense colour from the pigment
  • Different results depending on the surfaces you use (Absorbent vs Non-Absorbent will result in beading or absorbing or resisting.
  • You can build opacity by layering up the inks.
  • Shake the bottle side to side to avoid clogging the spray head.

Distress Oxide Sprays Tips & How to Use

  • Shake well before use to allow the pigment powder within the bottle to mix in throughout with the dye. It's recommended to swirl the bottle every few sprays to prevent the pigment from settling on the bottom of the bottle.
  • It is also helpful to soak the sprayers in warm water and spray them out every so often to resolve the clogging issue.
  • Air bubbles may be formed and clog the nozzle and it's recommended to how the nozzle down until the bubbles travel up and out of the straw.
  • They can be used without the nozzle, with a blending tool to create a beautiful background.
  • Ink can be dried with a heat tool or air-dried
  • Colours can be mixed or blended - watch the shades mix and blend for a unique effect!

  • With the ink pads, perfect for stamping and blending, raised surface, easy to control with the blending tool or blending brush. It's a great way to apply colour to a small surface. You have total control over the colour applied.
  • Sprays are ideal for working on a large surface....to cover a large area with colour and build the colour on top of it. 
  • Distress Oxide Sprays are the sprayable version of the Distress Oxide Ink Pads. However, they do not have the same concentration as the Distress Oxide Reinkers.
